Soon after my arrival, I was written to by Dr Legge, the head of the Anglo-Chinese College at this place.
In reply to his application for a grant of Land, I proposed to him (as directed by Your Lordship) Sir Henry Pottinger's suggestion that the Anglo-Chinese College should be amalgamated with the Morrison Education Society, - the more so, as they both possess a nearly similar purpose, and have nearly a common origin, since Dr Morrison himself instituted the Anglo-Chinese College.
